Hello HSYO Parents - past, present and future!
First, we hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season, and that you are excited to get back "in tune" with the Holly Strings Youth Orchestra this spring! We will be performing "Around the World", and we cannot wait!
The Holly Strings Youth Orchestra is set to have an outstanding, music-making, fun-yet enjoyably challenging spring 2023 session beginning on January 15th at the Holly Springs Cultural Center.
Schedule and Ensemble Descriptions:
Treble Clefs I - Holly Springs Cultural Center Age: 8-18. This program introduces students with no previous experience to the fundamentals of learning to play the violin. Students will learn proper technique and various aspects of musicianship, and apply these skills in collective performance. Students will receive an instruction book, and selected sheet music. Students will have the opportunity to perform at an end of session concert. Each student must have their own properly sized violin. SUNDAYS: 1/15-4/23 TIME 3-3:50P
Treble Clefs II - Holly Springs Cultural Center Age: 8-18. Treble Clefs II is open to any student who has completed Treble Clefs I, or is a beginner violinist with 4-6 months of previous experience. Students will continue to build familiarity with proper technique, strengthen sight reading capability, and gain confidence as a violinist and member of a performance ensemble. This class prepares violinists for the "Crescendos" or "Vibratos". Each student must have their own properly sized violin. SUNDAYS: 1/15-4/23 TIME 4-4:50P
Crescendos - Holly Springs Cultural Center Age: 8-14. Crescendos is a string ensemble open to any elementary school/middle school age youth with at least one-year of instruction in violin, viola, cello, or bass. Members of the Crescendos will rehearse weekly to prepare a challenging and enjoyable program for an end of session concert. Performance pieces will be selected to maximize the abilities of ensemble members, support the growth in musicality of each musician, and further support a love of music-making. SUNDAYS: 1/15--4/23 TIME 2-2:50P
Vibratos - Holly Springs Cultural Center Age: 13-18. Vibratos is a string ensemble open to any middle school or high school age youth with at least one-year of instruction in violin, viola, cello, or bass. Members of the Vibratos will rehearse weekly to prepare a challenging and enjoyable program for an end of session concert. Performance pieces will be selected to maximize the abilities of ensemble members, support the growth in musicality of each musician, and further foster a love of music-making. The HSYO has a very healthy collection of donated instruments that are in good condition. Instruments are available to be loaned to participants on a first-come first-served basis, and per request.

The Holly Strings Youth Orchestra is a non-profit corporation and shall be operated exclusively for educational and charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, or the corresponding section of any future corresponding tax code.
The HSYO mission is to cultivate the artistic development of students through high quality and affordable music education and performance. To create the opportunity for area youth to develop a lifelong love of music-making. To challenge every musician to pursue musical excellence.
The HSYO provides string instrument instruction to youth ages 20 years old and younger, as an individual and as part of an ensemble. Our vision is to make string music education and performance available to youth for whom string instrument instruction and ensemble performance opportunities are either unavailable or unaffordable.
Our programs include instrument instruction workshops, performance ensembles based on skill level, and concerts and public performances. We will offer tuition free opportunities for those who are unable to afford enrollment fees. We will work with area music groups and artists to enhance the musical growth experience for HSYO participants.
